Baptism Celebrations

Those who were baptised on 23rd January 2022, have been attending St Francis’ Church
Horley for over 6 months. They have been Christians in their own country and countries
where they were staying until their arrival in the UK. In their country of origin they were not
able to speak openly about their faith in Jesus Christ. Their home country language is
Farsi and we had baptism preparation and Gisoo translated for us from Farsi to English.

Coming to Horley they came to St Francis’ Church after they had met Rev’d Canon
Les Wells when he visited where they are staying. They wanted to attend a church.
Les said where he was preaching and leading the following Sunday and they came
and were welcomed into the church family and they have stayed since, attending weekly,
staying for refreshments after the service.

It was a great celebration as they were baptised followed by refreshments and a baptismal
cake from the congregation. Les preached on lectionary reading for the day, St Paul’s
epistle 1 Corinthians 12: v 27 “when we belong to the body of Christ the church, Christ is
the head, we all have a part to play in the unity of the body in sharing the Good News
of the gospel”

We as a body of Christ rejoiced with the three men as they were baptised into the
body where Jesus Christ is the head.
