Candlemas – The Presentation of Christ in the Temple

All the candles used in church during Advent, Christmas and Epiphany were lit for this special Candlemass Christingle Service. Children lit the Advent Wreath candles as we said special prayers at the beginning of our service.

Our dramatised reading and talk was about learning from Simeon and Anna – to stay faithful, watching and waiting, sure and secure in our trust in God’s love and grace and Simeon’s description of Jesus as the  ‘light  to  lighten  the  nations’.  Whatever our age we need to walk always in the light of Jesus and reflect his light to the people we meet .

We took our Christingles away with us to shine God’s light in our homes and to talk to people about the Light of Christ.
